“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Mark Twain
The Purpose is the main reason why an organization does what it does.
Ask yourself these three questions:
- Who would truly regret it if your organization no longer existed? (besides you)
- Who would miss it the most and why?
- How long would it take for a competitor to fill the void it would leave?
If the answers are “no one” and “very little time,” your organization has no Purpose. It’s time to create one and implement it.
The Purpose leads and guides the organization and individuals through every action and decision. It serves as a reference and facilitates decision-making. It gives strong meaning to those who share it. It allows for addressing a real need. It makes the organization unique and reflects its history and its way of seeing the world.
The 5 questions to build a Purpose:
- Who are we?
- Why do we do what we do?
- Who is our audience?
- How do we do it?
- What is our added value?
The Purpose is expressed in writing through a simple and short sentence. It does not stem from customer needs. It is neither a communication or marketing action, nor a goal to achieve. It highlights your way of seeing life and represents your strongest convictions.
The Purpose encourages you to be creative, innovative, energetic, and audacious. It elevates you, makes you responsible, committed, respectful, loyal, and confident. We facilitate interventions that engage each person in its implementation.
